Full-Time Assistant Project Manager
32+ hours (up to 40) per week plus benefits including health insurance and vacation starting at 90 days. Compensation based on experience, starting at $25/hour ($52,000/year and up, based on experience) + benefits including PTO, health insurance, and retirement matching.
Asheville-based position with option to work from home; must live in the Western North Carolina area.

CAKE is a full-service marketing firm based in Asheville, North Carolina. We perform ongoing web marketing work for our clients, design & build websites, and provide hosting & custom programming to support our online marketing work. We also offer high-quality print design. Founded in 2001, we currently have 15 staff members and a national client base, the majority of which are in the field of cosmetic medicine.
What we need
- An excellent communicator. We are looking for someone who can communicate effectively and professionally, both verbally and in writing. In time, the job will require frequent, direct contact with clients.
- A relationship builder. Creating strong personal relationships with our clients is key to long-term collaboration and stability.
- A leader who will help motivate CAKE staff (as well as client-side contacts) to creatively problem-solve and meet deadlines.
- Someone who can put her/himself in another person’s shoes. Understanding how a prospective audience and our client’s goals intersect is key to all of our marketing work. Also, understanding each client’s priorities and perspective and proactively brainstorm initiatives — we welcome new ideas and perspectives.
- Someone who will assist with our sales process by celebrating our work and presenting it with enthusiasm in a sales context.
- A low-ego doer. We are a team of doers and do not put a lot of emphasis on hierarchy.
- Ability to get past roadblocks and envision creative solutions. For example, the person in this role should not let the fact that a client hasn’t supplied an item stop us from delivering effective results. We can always continue to make progress towards greater goals.
Desirable qualifications
- Project management experience of any type
- Familiarity with editing website content via a content management system (we favor WordPress)
- Enjoys meeting goals and deadlines
- Love of organization
- Comfortable with the idea/subject of cosmetic medicine, much of our clients’ content is centered around elective medical procedures
- Experience with website design processes or management of programming tasks
Duties
- Client communications and relationship building
- Check website rankings and assign SEO work based on client needs
- Task work in our project management system
- Social media content review and support
- Prioritize work/balance deadlines
- Attend weekly team meetings
- Sales lead follow up
