Removing a Duplicate Business Listing from Localeze

An important part of local search optimization is tending the business’ “garden” of online listings. When I remove old citations and duplicates, I like to start upstream at data aggregators and work my way down. Neustar Localeze is an influential data aggregator supplying local business information throughout the ecosystem.

Localeze requires a standard phone verification, a simple automated call to the business number. You put the verification code into the prompt and can then manage the listing. If the information is a duplicate, click “manage this listing” and then choose “close this listing.” Voila! Localeze will remove the information and slowly distribute it through the network.

But what can you do if the duplicate information has the wrong phone number?

Dealing with an incorrect phone number

If the listed phone number is no longer accessible, contact Localeze support (localezesupport@neustar.biz) with an explanation. The initial response from support will be boilerplate instructions on how to claim a listing, but you can persist. Respond describing why no one can receive a verification from the phone number, and an actual representative will reply.

The representative will provide you with the verification code. Start the online verification process. Instead of triggering a phone call, reply to representative. Do not trigger a call. The representative will email the verification PIN. Use that code and you’ll gain control of the old information.

Click on manage account and close the listing, and now it’s just a matter of waiting for the network to update.
